Homocysteine occurs in cell metabolism as an intermediary product during the catabolisation of methionine. A higher concentration of homocysteine in the blood can increase the risk for cardio and cerebrovascular blockages. The VACUETTE® Homocysteine Detection Tube contains a stabiliser, which ensures the stability for at least 6 hours at room temperature and up to 72 hours when refrigerated (4°C).
