Rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis (RPGN) is a clinical syndrome developing over days or weeks characterized by crescentic glomerulonephritis on histopathology of the kidney. The prognosis is poor if not recognized early and if an appropriate treatment is not instituted. To optimize patient management, RPGN may be classified based on a) clinical assessment, b) direct immunofluorescence and electron microscopic studies of renal biopsy and c) serum antibody studies. Using the above criteria, RPGN may be classified into a) immune complex mediated disease characterized by the presence of ant

Goodpasture’s syndrome is an autoimmune condition characterised by rapidly progressing glomerulonephritis (RPGN) commonly accompanied by pulmonary haemorrhage. The disease is often fatal if not diagnosed and treated. The presence of anti-glomerular basement membrane antibodies (also known as Goodpasture’s antibodies) and in particular antibodies against the C-terminal end of the alpha-3 chain of type IV collagen is diagnostic of Goodpasture’s syndrome. A negative test for GBM rules out active Goodpasture’s, however, a positive test indicates a requirement for urgent treatment, a high risk of l

An enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the detection and semiquantitation of anti-glomerular basement membrane (GBM) antibodies in human serum. The presence of GBM antibodies can be used as an adjunct to clinical and other laboratory findings in the diagnosis of autoimmune renal disorders such as Goodpasture's Syndrome.

Hycor Biomedical Ltd Autostat™II Anti-Glomerular Basement Membrane enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) specific for antibodies to Glomerular Basement Membrane (GBM).
Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay method for the semi-quantitative determination of specific IgG autoantibodies to GBM in human serum. The results of the anti-GBM assay can be used as an aid in the diagnosis of diseases associated with elevated levels of anti-GBM antibodies including Goodpasture’s Syndrome. Levels of these au
