BBL™ CHROMagar™ MRSA is a selective and differential medium for the qualitative direct detection of nasal colonization by methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) to aid in the prevention and control of MRSA infections in healthcare settings. The test is performed on anterior nares swab specimens from patients and healthcare workers to screen for MRSA colonization. BBL CHROMagar MRSA is not intended to diagnose MRSA infection nor to guide or monitor treatment for infections.

The BD GeneOhm™ MRSA Assay is a qualitative in vitro diagnostic test for the direct detection of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) from a nasal specimen. Test procedure time for the assay is under two hours. Compared to culture methods requiring two to five days, this rapid turn-around time can be used to enhance any infection control program. The test provides a definitive result in a single assay.

The NEW, FDA cleared, MRSA Latex Kit for PBP2/ detects Penicillin Binding Protein 2/ (PBP2/) in isolates of Staphylococcus aureus and coagulase-negative staphylococci. PBP2/ is a protein coded by the mecA gene and is present in the membranes of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus and coagulase-negative staphylococci. The latex particles in this kit are coated with antibodies specific to the PBP2/ protein.
