The ASO test method is based on an immunological reaction between streptococcal exoenzymes bound to biologically inert latex particles and streptococcal antibodies in the test sample. The reagent has been adjusted in the way that presence of an ASO titer of 200 IU/ml or higher in the serum gives a visible agglutination of the latex particles without previous sample dilution.

The Accutex C-Reactive Protein (CRP) Latex Test provides a suspension of polystyrene latex particles which have been coated with antibody to human C-reactive protein. The CRP produced in response to inflammation or necrosis binds to the specific antibody coating the latex particles. In specimens having abnormally high levels of CRP, this binding is evident by rapid agglutination of the latex.

The Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Latex Test provides a suspension of polystyrene latex particles which have been coated with deoxyribonucleoprotein. The antinuclear antibodies produced in systemic lupus erythematosus bind to the DNP coating the latex particles. This binding is evident by rapid agglutination of the latex.

The MBDr Rheumatoid Factor Latex Test provides a suspension of polystyrene latex particles which have been coated with heat treated human IgG. The immunoglobulins present in most cases of rheumatoid arthritis bind to the human IgG coating the latex particles. In specimens having abnormally high levels of RF, this binding is evident by rapid agglutination of the latex.

Rheumatoid factors (RF) are antibodies directed against antigenic sites
in the Fc fragment of human and animal IgG. Their frequent occurrence
in rheumatoid arthritis makes them useful for diagnosis and monitoring
of the disease.1,2
One method used for rheumatoid factor detection is based on the ability
of rheumatoid arthritis sera to agglutinate sensitized sheep red cells, as
observed by Waaler3 and Rose.4 A more sensitive reagent consisting of
biologically inert latex beads coated with human gamma globulin was
later described by Singer and Plotz.5 The RF kit is based on the
principle of latex
