This paper outlines the clinical studies performed to evaluate the performance
of the recently introduced MEIA assay, on the AxSYM analyzer, for measurement
of B-type natriuertic peptide (BNP) in plasma samples.
■ The evaluations were performed using clinical samples obtained from
9 different collection sites and all testing was performed using the Abbott
AxSYM instruments on site at Axis-Shield, Dundee. All clinical specimens
were supplied with demographic information (including age, gender, ethnic
origin and treatment history) and comprised both diagnosed heart failure, i.e.,
