Measures heparin Cofactor II (dermatan sulphate cofactor) in human plasma. The assay is a three stage chromogenic assay using Dermatan Sulfate and excess thrombin. In the first stage, Dermatan sulphate is added to the diluted sample. In the second stage, thrombin is added and inhibition of the thrombin activity occurs. In the third stage, the residual thrombin activity is measured using the thrombin specific chromogenic substrate SPECTROZYME® TH. The heparin Cofactor II concentration is inversely proportional to the residual thrombin concentration.
